Maxi’s practice explores social documentary employing a hand-made pinhole camera alongside digital photography. She is interested in the effects of human society, on humans themselves, and their environments. As a socially engaged artist, process plays an important role in her practice and this is reflected wherever possible in the final work. Most of her art is based around the subject of the portrait and has previously worked on a series of drawings, that investigated the representation of posed and spontaneous expressions, and how best to communicate the honesty of the emotion. She has developed an interest in portraiture in her current photographic work, producing photographs of single homeless people living on the streets of London.
